    At River Yoga we encourage and empower each student to discover her/his unique path toward whole health. The ancient practice of yoga combines postures (asanas) and breath (prana), which provides a vehicle to strengthen and embolden our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. River Yoga classes range from very gentle to vigorous and are always offered with modifications and variations to accommodate each and every individual practice. Yoga is an inward journey.     Love Your Bones!***

    Love Your Bones is a gentle class designed for those dealing with aging and/or limitations, particularly those related to back and/or bone issues. It will emphasize stretching the overall body and strengthening the core, muscles, and bones. The class will incorporate traditional yoga and Sky Styx methodology and will draw on the work of Sara Meeks, Loren Fishman, Ellen Saltonsall, and Christopher Baxter.


    *Please note that people with osteoporosis are best served by participating in a Chair Yoga class. Chair Yoga is available at The Community Center at Riverview Apartments on Tuesday afternoons.

    Intro to Meditation (a FREE Class)***

    Meditation is the most direct and effortless way to experience inner silence and rediscover the body's innate intelligence. It also has been scientifically proven to help those suffering from stress, anxiety, and other chronic health problems. The benefits of meditation are immediate and cumulative with regular practice. This weekly, 45-minute class will include a short introduction to meditation, followed by a group meditation experience, and will conclude with an optional Q&A session. It is not necessary to bring props (though it is optional to sit on a yoga mat). Mats and chairs will also be available.

    Taught by Bill Moth, this hour-long class is designed specifically for men wanting to begin yoga, and those who have some yoga experience and want to continue in a gender specific practice. While proceeding at a slow to moderate pace, each practice will include postures, movement, balance, breath work, and strength development. Emphasis is on instruction, alignment, and use of props and modifications to enable students to learn and practice yoga successfully for a lifetime.

We will begin with a yoga class led by Liz and Kristen, followed by an opportunity to sample a few of the recipes from our book (all recipes will be made by Janati Yoga School volunteers and with local ingredients provided by Market vendors)!
